Polyurethane Moulding

Custom polyurethane moulded components manufactured to your specification.

Polyurethane moulding enables complex, durable components to be manufactured with precision and consistent material performance. It is suitable for both specialised engineering projects and high-volume production, making it ideal for replacement parts, industrial components and applications where reliability and long service life are essential.

What Polyurethane Moulding Is Used For

Polyurethane moulding is commonly selected when traditional materials fail prematurely or are impractical to machine. The process allows precise shapes to be cast directly from a mould, producing components that combine strength, flexibility and wear resistance.

Typical polyurethane moulding applications include:

  • rollers
  • wheels
  • bump stops
  • wear pads
  • seals
  • liners
  • protective guards
  • housings
  • vibration-absorbing components

Parts can be produced as individual replacements or as scheduled repeat batches to support ongoing operations.

A Material Designed Around the Application

Unlike standard plastics, polyurethane can be formulated to suit the working conditions of the part.

The hardness, elasticity and durability can be adjusted to meet load requirements, movement, impact resistance or abrasion levels. This allows a component to be engineered for its environment rather than forcing the application to adapt to a fixed material.

Where rubber deforms and metals wear or corrode, polyurethane provides a controlled balance of strength and resilience.

Flexible for Specialist and Scalable Production

Polyurethane moulding offers a reliable manufacturing solution for complex components that require accuracy, repeatability and durable material performance.

It is well suited to specialist applications while also supporting ongoing production requirements across a wide range of industries.

This makes the process ideal for specialised equipment, replacement machine parts, custom-engineered components and product development projects where dependable quality and long service life are essential.

Replacement and Reverse-Engineered Parts

We regularly produce polyurethane mouldings to replace discontinued or worn components. Existing parts can be measured and replicated, or improved where the original material was unsuitable for the application.

Reverse-engineered mouldings allow equipment to remain operational without requiring redesign or costly machine replacement, helping reduce downtime and maintenance disruption.

Damaged wheels show cracks; repaired wheels appear smooth, shiny.

Bonded and Reinforced Components

Polyurethane can be moulded directly onto metal inserts or cores, producing bonded components with structural strength and a durable working surface. This is commonly used for rollers, wheels and load-bearing parts where a rigid internal structure is required.

Bonding the material during manufacture ensures long-term adhesion and consistent performance in heavy-duty environments.

Typical bonded polyurethane components include:

  • Conveyor rollers and drive rollers
  • Forklift and pallet truck wheels
  • Guide wheels and track rollers
  • Shock-absorbing bump stops and buffers
  • Metal-backed wear pads and liners
  • Bearings and bushings with protective outer layers
  • Cable protection rollers and guides
  • Machine support mounts and anti-vibration mounts

The combination of a structural metal core and a resilient polyurethane surface provides load capacity while protecting equipment from wear, impact and surface damage, extending service life in demanding applications.

Wear, Impact and Vibration Resistance

One of the main advantages of polyurethane mouldings is their resistance to abrasion and repeated impact. Components maintain shape under load and absorb shock, reducing damage to surrounding machinery.

In many applications polyurethane also reduces operational noise and vibration, improving working conditions while extending the lifespan of adjacent equipment.

Consistent Repeat Manufacturing

Once a mould is produced, parts can be manufactured consistently across repeat batches. Dimensions, hardness and performance characteristics remain controlled, allowing reliable stock replacement and planned maintenance cycles.

We maintain records for each project so components can be reproduced whenever required.

From Specification to Production

We support projects from initial enquiry through to finished production. If a drawing or CAD file is available it can be used directly, but we can also work from samples, sketches or functional requirements.

Our team advises on suitable material grades, hardness levels and design adjustments where necessary to ensure the finished moulding performs as intended.
