Wheel Refurbishment

Polyurethane wheels serve a multitude of purposes across various industries. When it comes to larger wheels, there’s an opportunity for tire re-machining, offering customers a chance to prolong the life of their components. Our expertise allows us to true worn surfaces, restore crown profiles, refresh tread patterns, and ensure proper rebalancing where necessary.

Removing the old tyre

Industrial wheel refurbishment is a straightforward concept to grasp. Often, the expense of wheel hubs—especially those intricately machined to accommodate bearings or axles—far outweighs the cost of the tyre itself. Let’s walk you through a typical “rebond” process:

  1. Receiving the Used Wheel: We initiate the process by receiving the worn-out wheel from our customers.
  2. Old Tire Removal & Grit Blasting: Next, we tackle two crucial steps in one go. We carefully remove the old tire and subject the wheel to grit blasting, ensuring a clean and smooth surface for further treatment.
  3. Hub Preparation for Bonding: Our skilled technicians then prepare the hub for the bonding process, laying the foundation for a strong and durable bond

Sizing the new tyre

At our facility, we boast a state-of-the-art milling machine tailored specifically for cutting helix grooves into wheels and rollers. With both static and dynamic balancing equipment, along with a range of traditional machine tools, we’re fully equipped to handle the materials we process.

  1. New Tyre Machining: Precision machining comes into play here, as we craft a new tire tailored to meet exact specifications, ensuring optimal performance.
  2. Finished Tyre: With meticulous attention to detail, the newly machined tire is completed, ready to enhance the performance of the wheel.
  3. Ready for Dispatch: After passing our rigorous quality checks, the refurbished wheel with its brand-new tire is deemed ready for dispatch, poised to serve its purpose with renewed reliability

Why Choose Polyurethane Wheels?

Polyurethane is a preferred material for industrial wheels due to its versatility and reliability. It can be precisely molded to meet specific dimensions and performance requirements, and it performs exceptionally well under heavy loads, extreme temperatures, and exposure to moisture or chemicals. Additional benefits include:

  • Durability: Resists wear, abrasion, and chemical damage.
  • Flexibility: Can be bonded to various substrates like aluminium, steel, and cast iron.
  • Noise Dampening: Reduces operational noise in machinery.
  • Sustainability: Long-lasting and suitable for repair or re-bonding.

What Makes Polyurethane Wheels a Smart Investment

Versatility and Precision Molding
Polyurethane can be molded into virtually any size, shape, or color, and tailored with features like grooves, slots, or patterns to meet specific operational needs. This adaptability ensures quick production and easy integration into machinery.

Task-Specific Performance
Polyurethane’s chemical blend can be fine-tuned for various levels of shore hardness and tensile strength. Whether you need lightweight, energy-efficient movement or robust load-bearing capacity, polyurethane can meet the challenge.

Durability and Reliability
Polyurethane wheels resist wear, abrasion, moisture, chemicals, and extreme temperatures. Unlike rubber, they won’t crack, warp, or flake under challenging conditions. Their tear resistance and ability to maintain shape under heavy force rival that of metal, but without the risk of denting or buckling.

Noise Reduction and Traction
Polyurethane wheels dampen noise and provide excellent traction on uneven or smooth surfaces, making them ideal for applications requiring quiet and stable operation.
